 “Getting to Know Your Bible”

The Bible is a collection of many books, all telling a part of God’s story. You may have certain questions about the Bible, such as “What does the Bible consist of?” “Am I getting all I can from the Bible?” Or, it may seem to you that much of the Bible is not particularly applicable to today’s life. You might ask: “What are the best ways that I should read and study the Bible?” “How can I make sense of it?” “What version should I use?” “How can I read and study it so that it will help me in my faith?” Pastor Michael McCrum will address these common questions in two sessions. Administration Building, Room 205 or 207

“Spiritual Gifts Discovery”

Spiritual gifts are not our talents or skills. They are the grace of God at work within us, empowering us to match our deep passions with the world’s deep need. The gifts are given to individuals, but they are given to build and strengthen community and to meet the needs of those around us. Begin the journey. Discover your gifts. Talk about your gifts with others. Strive together to understand your gifts and how you can use them to serve God, neighbor, and world. You have been gifted and given a purpose. Hannah Hedgpeth is excited to explore with you. Administration Building, Room 205 or 207

 November 15

 “Town Hall Meeting”

All are invited to an open and informal discussion about life in BUMC with pastors and church leadership. Where is God is leading us in ministry? What are our celebrations and concerns? Administration Building, Room 207

“An Advent of Grace-A Biblical Approach”

Advent is defined as: “a season observed in many Christian churches as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas.” (Bing – Wikipedia)  The word literally means “coming into view.”  However, the Word “Advent” is not used in the Bible.  What might be a biblical approach to understanding Advent?  What does the Bible say about this season of Advent and how can we prepare hearts and minds for this “Advent of Grace”?  This three-week study will explore common bible verses dealing with Advent, and will challenge us to turn this season into an “Advent (coming) of Grace.” Join Pastor Ralph Mann and enrich your Christmas season.  Administration Building, Room 205

“Picture Advent”

Want a unique and creative way to explore the season of Advent through photography? Let’s take pictures (easy to do with our cell phones) and share them online as well as in class. If you register online at www.lecfamily.org/advent, you’ll receive a daily devotion, along with the biblical theme. Use this devotion to inspire you to take a photo each day and post it online. We will also be meeting each week, to share these photos and talk about your biblical inspiration. Several joined Pastor Barbara Aziz for this study during last Lent and found it to be profoundly moving. All are welcome! Administration Building, Room 207
