About Us

Our Purpose.   It seems so simple to believe people know the purpose of the Church, but it is not always so clear. Our purpose then is to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who will hear.  We do this by carrying out the five purposes of the church: Celebration (worship), Discipleship (teaching), Fellowship (building community), Service (serving), and Outreach (mission). 

Our Mission.  The mission of Bulverde United Methodist Church is:  To Build, To Grow, To Send.  To Build a community that knows Jesus Christ as its Savior.  To Grow a community of disciples that lives the Word of God.  To Send disciples into the world to heal the nations.

Our Strategy.   Our overarching strategy is hospitality evangelism, and we incorporate this into every aspect of the church.  Hospitality Evangelism is a state of mind, whereby a congregation remains open to our guests.  We strive to create an environment where you quickly feel you're part of the family.  If you feel part of the family, you can be free to give the special gifts and blessings which make you a unique child of God.

Our Call.   Every believer in Jesus Christ has a call to ministry.  This call comes originally from our creator when we are in the womb.  When we accept Jesus Christ as our savior and are baptized into his kingdom the call manifests itself into us so that we may become faithful participants in the Kingdom of God.  That Kingdom is not limited to church life, yet we find that it is through the Church that Jesus Christ established to be the best way to fulfill our call.  Therefore a request to join the church and to profess membership in the church is one way of being faithful to the call.  Each month we host a Coffee with the Pastors to discuss our calls, our gifts, and Christ’s claim upon our lives.  We invited you to participate in a Coffee with the Pastors.  You might be pleasantly surprised at how God is speaking through B.U.M.C.
